The ultrasonic Air-O-Swiss 7135 humidifier uses high-frequency vibrations to transform water into a fine mist that evaporates into the air. This powerful unit can convert 3.5 gallons of water into mist within a period of 24 hours and has the ability to humidify rooms up to 650 square feet in size. Air-O-Swiss also offers similar features and quality in humidifiers designed for rooms as small as 200 square feet in size.

This ultrasonic humidifier offers cool and warm mist. Both are equally effective in humidifying the air. If you are sick or have allergies, consider using the warm-mist setting because even this gentle heat will kill some of the germs and bacteria that often thrive in moist environments. Warm mist is generated by heating water before it is turned into mist. The mist leaves this ultrasonic unit at a safe 104 degrees Fahrenheit – a far lower temperature than the steam that exits units where the water is boiled to produce humidity. However, the heated water in the humidifier still poses a safety risk for children if the unit is tipped. For extra safety, always use the cool-mist setting for young children.

You can set the Air-O-Swiss 7135 to turn off after one to nine hours using the built-in timer. The humidifier also has a useful preset function. You can choose between 40 and 75 percent humidity and make adjustments up or down in 5 percent increments. The temperature monitor adjusts itself to your room’s fluctuating conditions and, using the various mist output functions, maintains a constant humidity level.

There are two modes, automatic and sleep. It's easy to select the mode simply by pressing a button on the LCD screen. You can manually enter the humidity level and amount of time you want it to run, or you can simply use the sleep function, which automatically sets the humidifier to an ideal 60 percent humidity for eight hours. And with its ultra-quiet motor, you can use it in your bedroom and still sleep peacefully.

Water purity is important when you're using your humidifier. This unit includes a carbon filter that removes unwanted chemicals, such as lead and mercury, along with other impurities that may be present in your tap water. It also includes one demineralization cartridge to inhibit microbial growth, ensuring bacteria-free water.

If your water has a high mineral content, you will need to replace the demineralization cartridge more often than you would otherwise, as this is also the mechanism that prevents deposits of mineral dust. Unlike humidifiers that emit water vapor, ultrasonic units operate by using vibrations that pulverize water into mist. If you do not use the demineralization cartridge, water with a high mineral content can deposit a fine white powder on your furniture and curtains, which can be a hassle to clean.

The Air-O-Swiss has an LCD screen with clearly marked controls for adjusting the settings. It even has an automatic cleaning indicator that lets you know when it is time to clean your humidifier. The indicator will typically come on about every two weeks, depending on how often you use your unit.

The 7135 has a 360-degree adjustable spout that lets you point the steam in the appropriate direction. Because it has a clear plastic reservoir, you can see when the water is low. The tank itself holds up to 1.7 gallons. You can run it for 24 hours without having to refill it, a little less if you use the warm mist option. A built-in carry handle is attached to the top of the unit so you can easily lift it up and place it in the sink for refills.

Each of the 7100 series has almost identical features and capabilities. The chief differences are in appearance. The Air-O-Swiss 7135 has a white base and a clear blue tank. Other models have different designs with different aesthetics. There's a stainless steel option, as well as a smoky black model that has a contemporary, high-tech look.
